– Medical Equipment like Oxygen cylinders, beds, cardiac monitors etc.
– Nursing staff and Caregiver staff

Equipment(s) are an important part of homecare treatment, how to get them right?
The patient/relative should make sure of the following before accepting the equipment(s) –
1. Check with your doctor for equipment specifications
2. Make sure the Homecare provider has a 24-hr replacement policy (in case of malfunction)
3. Check with your providers if there is an AMC contract for the important equipment(s)
4. Equipment should be clean, well-sanitized and well maintained
5. The Homecare provider is usually responsible for equipment pickup & drop (unless change is sought from patient’s side except malfunction)
What type of nursing/caretakers’ services are available? What is more preferable?
– 24 hours (the staff stays with the patient at home)
– 12 hours + 12 hours (here the staff works in day/night shifts)
Preference between 24 vs 12:12 depends on –
– Level of consciousness of the patient
– Level of criticality of the patient
– Is the patient completely bed-ridden
– Availability of space and other infra factors

Yes, home health aides can assist with daily living activities such as:

Is Insurance available for homecare services?
Yes, many insurance companies have now started providing homecare assistance. This cannot be availed unless it has been approved by the insurance company before-hand, for which your insurance agent shall be able to help you.
